439-Out of Body Experience: Healing Left Heel

 


I did the full NRA protocol all night long and early morning, I lying on my left, I felt the phase state. And I gently rub my fingers and rub my hands together and patiently bring it to my face and rub my face, rub my chest and down and then using my right hand I reach out to my left heel, slowly slowly the left heel brought up and then I touch the left heel and then I could feel the pain on my left heel a little bit and then I apply the healing energy and then the dream began to fade. It was worth it, even though I focus on the left heel, I managed to feel some energy there, healing energy.

Throughout the night, I was very patient to apply the ABC protocol patiently and it paid off. To summarize the part C of the protocol, I just hold my gaze steady and do nothing, I just wait. Earlier, I exited from a dream and remembered to keep very still and I kept like that and I was like my consciousness and awareness was like being underwater, very bogged down. And I knew that if I kept it like that, I would fall back to sleep so I had to fight to keep my awareness and try to bring it above the water and I managed to get it above the water. That means put in more awareness and make more control and then I turn to the left and lying on my left, I just kept my gaze steady and did nothing, just wait and then it happened - the phase state.

The dream faded earlier because I kept focused on my right hand, on my left heel for too long, I knew it was wrong but it was worth it healing, but because of the focus it faded. Maybe in future if I wanted to do the healing, I will alternate my attention between my left hand and my right hand so that the focus is not on one spot for too long. Keep rubbing left finger and feel the right heel, keep rubbing left finger and then the right heel like that.

Also remember how the problem with your wife's family is in your favor, it helps you in your quest for out of body experience and lucid dreaming. And also remember your main goal and keep this gratefulness for this and that is enough and you pacify all your stress and bring you peace. Remember your main goal and be grateful for it. That's enough, don't bother about all the other things, this alone is enough for you. Your main goal, be glad, be contented that you have this supernatural ability, just keep focusing and practicing it. This is all you need to keep your attention occupied, everything else that happened in your wife's family is supporting you in this thing. Think of it that way. Think of the other side of the coin. This is the Vajrayana's skillful means to transform the mind.


Could anger also be transmuted using skillful means?
Maybe, transform anger to lust. Then replace the lustful object with Vajrayogini and see what happens...

Technique: Non-Reactive Relaxation With Anchoring (NRA)

A. Before Sleep and After Every Awakening:

Form the clear intention to:

1. Have Lucid Dreams and Out of Body Experience tonight.

2. Keep absolutely still upon every awakening and to do the Protocols B and C described below.

B. Protocol To Fall Asleep:

Feel a red at the throat.

C. Protocol At Every Awakening:

1. Try to re-enter the dream you just exited from. If that fails, test to see if you are already in the hypnagogic or hypnopompic state by trying to rub fingers or clap and rub hands. If you are in the state, then exit the body. Next, peer closely at any hand to bring light and color to the dream world and then off you go. But, if not in those states, proceed to do the Non-Reactive Relaxation with Anchoring, which follows below.

2. Keep absolutely still and let go of heavy thoughts with a non-reactive attitude. Don't react to any thoughts or feelings or sensations. Just let them be. Don't try to do anything.

3. In the background of your mind, you could subtly use the breath to help you let go and relax.

4. With eyelids closed, gently gaze at the void in front at any images, if any, that appears. This is the anchoring aspect which prevents you from drifting off to sleep. Don't gaze too hard, just gently. Otherwise, you will be be in a state of doing. Remember, you should maintain a mental attitude of Non-Reactivity, i.e. not doing anything. Use the analogy of a ship and the anchor. You are the ship and the chain is awareness. The image in front is the anchor. Too much awareness and you are exerting too much effort. Too little awareness and you drift off to sleep. Just apply very light awareness to stay awake. A subtle balancing act. Remember to relax your eyeballs and eyelids.

To summarize:

Perform the test: finger-hand-rub-clap. Then, let go of thoughts and feelings by not reacting to them. Use the breath to relax while anchoring in the images behind closed eyelids.

438-Lucid Dream: School Walk while telling myself "I am Dreaming"


 

7:19 am - To sleep, I feel the red ཨ at the throat that let me sleep all night long and then once

I got up pass urine and back to bed, I did the non-reactive method and after a long time 

keeping still-important and also relax breathing to let go. I finally felt the

early morning phase state while lying on the right and I was then

hypnagogic, felt like I was sitting on a stool and tilting to the right and going to fall on the

ground from a table but then I realized I cannot be because I'm sleeping in bed so this is a dream

so I just allow it to fall and as I fall, I felt myself being pulled upwards in the phase feeling

and I let it be but the dream faded before I could go further.




8:16 am

- Continue to do non-reactive breathing and while lying on my right, I got my second lucid dream tonight.

I was in a kind of hazy state of mind and realized that it's just a dream.

I then clapped and rubbed my hands and then sustained it.

It was all in darkness and I continued to peer into my right hand while rubbing.

As I peered and saw the texture of the skin color of my right my hand, the world appeared.

I found a classroom in the back.

I then put my hands on the floor and rubbed the floor and tapped it.

I then stood up on the floor of the classroom, the cement floor, and walked with my legs touching it.

There was an opening on the left, so I walked to the left to go out of the classroom.

As I walked past the windows of the classroom outside, I tapped the classroom window and rubbed on it as well.

And I continued to remember to always rub my hands.

And then the dream faded, but when it faded, my palms were not together, so I could not re-enter the dream.

Prior to the first lucid dream and the second lucid dream, I prayed to Dorje Shugden to bless me with OBE or lucid dreams.



As I was walking outside the classroom, tapping and rubbing the window glass, I spoke out loud as I walked.

I said, wow, I really lucid dreaming, there was a small drain on my left as I walked.

It felt so real, like I was actually there walking as I was talking to myself.


Technique:




Feel Red  ཨ at throat for sleeping. Visualizing Red  is optional. What is important is the sensation at the throat. 




Upon every subsequent awakening in the night, do Non-Reactive method for inducing lucid dream/OBE. Eejit's (Stephen Walsh) Chain of Thoughts method. Be Non-Reactive to let go of heavy thoughts until light thoughts (liminal dream) appears. The light thought-forms is the anchor. Occasionally keep awareness on them to prevent drifting off to sleep. Once you feel the hypnagogic state, rub fingers, rub hands and off you go!


Tip: If you just do Red  ཨ at throat. There is no anchor and you might drift off to sleep.

437-Lucid Dream: Puja Hall in Library

 


I tried to enter a public library but couldn't
So I went to the children's library
I pushed my bicycle through the library
I wanted to go somewhere else
Thought of taking the shortcut past the library
But then I thought that better not
Let's take the other side exit
As I passed by, pushing my bicycle
There was a librarian sitting at the counter on my left there
Attending to someone
And then I pushed my bicycle through a path in the library
And there was a metal pail, I knocked it over
And then I picked up the pail, put it back and I pushed out into the open
Out to the door, exit outside
It was night outside
And as I was exiting, I heard the Buddhist puja about to start inside the library
I wanted to join so I just left the electric bicycle outside, unlocked
Someone else also came into the door
I quickly entered again the library
And then there was two sections
On the left was the library itself proper
And on the right, the sadhana puja was just getting started
Namo Tassa and so on
I was thinking how is it that the librarians and the users in the library don't mind the Buddhist puja
But I continued walking straight inside the right-hand side room
And in front there was a large room
And in front there was a monk who was leading the puja
And there were people seated on the floor in front of him
I first kneeled down near the entrance to prostration
But then I got up and went further in front
And I kneeled down and did three prostrations
And I felt intense devotion
And because of that, I realized suddenly that this is a dream
And I felt so intense gratefulness and gratitude for this
And the dream faded
I did mindfulness meditation as taught by Joseph Goldstein in his audio book
Six Practices for Awakening
Throughout the night, I could easily fall asleep using these four foundations of mindfulness
It also helped induce this lucid dream
After the dream, I did dedication of merits
When the dream faded, I still had the feeling of vibration in my right hand
And I tried to re-enter the dream
I tried to peer the right hand too
And also tried to rub the fingers of the right hand to re-enter the dream.

436-Out of Body Experience: Using Non-Reactive method - Tapped wall of bedroom

 



Lying on my left, I did the non-reactive method, let go and went deep and relaxed, just relaxed and go deep and not sure if it seemed like hypnagogia but maybe a little bit. From there I thought finger rub so I tried to rub and it managed to rub. Then I tried to clap hands and after a while the hands appeared in front of me at abdomen level. Then, bring them together and clap and rub and peer. Brought hands to touch my face, chest, body, abdomen and genitals. Touched mattress and side of bed frame. Put my feet on floor and stood up and knocked wall of bedroom using right hand knuckles. Surface rough wall. Walking forward always remembering to  peer left and right at my hands. The dream began to fade. I wanted to re-enter but my palms were not together. Maybe I should always keep my palms together. Touch objects and keep palms together repeatedly. Dream faded. Maybe to reenter dream, before it fades, keep rubbing fingers of either hand at all times, especially as the dream is fading. To note that what is important is not so much hypnagogic visual images but feeling of relaxation.  Once you feel it is deep and relaxed enough, can rub fingers and rub hands. Also used breath to relax and also kept very still for long periods of time. 

Realization:
Realized that it is actually 4 foundations of mindfulness. Mindful of body and then breath then use breath to calm body, then to calm mind, be non-reactive to negative feelings until liminal dreaming or hypnagogic state. Then rub fingers, then rub hands then rub mattress, side of bed frame. Stand up and off you go!

435-Out of Body Experience: Eejits method to exit then, tap window of bedroom

 

Using Eejit's (Stephen Walsh) Chain of Thoughts method of WILD (youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__H8JAbg7z4), and Lucid Mystic ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPxY7Z_opwI ) I manage to exit the body by realizing that a liminal dream scene can be transformed into a dream world by clapping and rubbing my hands. I stepped on bedroom floor beside bed. Stood up and rub the curtains. Parted them and looked out at the night sky and tapped my finger on the window. Transcription from Sony Recorder follows:


I use Eejit's method Eejit from the YouTube all night long and managed to fall asleep easily
and early morning now already 8 something I think and now lying on my left I did Eejit's method
again to fall asleep and I in and out in and out of the liminal dreaming state many times
and finally I found myself in a classroom it could be a hypnagogic image where liminal dreaming
combined. I looked and I was standing in front of the classroom I looked down I was near the whiteboard and suddenly I think very light dream liminal dreaming probably and I said yes this could be
a dream I manage to clap my hands and rub my hands clap and I and I entered the OBE, rub my hands
and rub my hands and found myself in bed rubbing my hands and peering at them trying to get the
world to come in but I tried a long time the color did not come in and finally after a while
yes I can see the color came in and I was in my room and lying on my bed I then continue to rub
my hands and until it became stabilized and in the meantime I thought I did the prayer
to dedicate merit to all the two Tara and Chenrezig as well and ask for the bless all sentient beings
to be free from suffering get happiness and clarity and when I finish that I continue
rubbing my hands and I think at one time the dream almost faded but because my hands were
palms together and I could feel them rubbing and because of that I managed to re-enter the
dream again and this time when I re-enter I could see the room clearly because I keep peering in
hands and the skin texture and so now I want to stand up so I did I touch the impossible angle
on my left touch the mattress and move my touch to the side and I feel my legs come down on the
floor I stand on the floor and stood up and I was also happy and then tap the blue curtains
dark blue curtains on the left and then walk a short distance and open the curtains and look outside
and I see outside was dark and I tap the glass with my fingers and heard the sound and felt
the solidity and I can tell myself oh this is so real like I'm really here and I think I focus
the glass too long and the dream faded and then I tried to get back my palms together and I found
that my palms were not together at the time that was a mistake I should have continued putting my
palm and rubbing together no matter what I did and I should continue peering and I think I before
it faded I managed to look to the right and saw the front bookshelf and I also walked no it didn't fade. I did tap the cupboard on the right the front the white cupboard and peered the cupboard texture very closely rub on it and move to the right towards the door and then only I think the room faded at that time because I think I went back to the glass and look out the window and that's where the room faded the dream faded and I tried to get back I couldn't because my palms are not together and while I was still in a slightly dazed hypnagogic state I think I did dedication of merits and throughout the OBE I could hear the background sound of two-tone high pitch high frequency:  too tee, too tee. . .


Eejit's Chain of Thoughts method modified:
Be Non Reactive let heavy thoughts run until no more
Let light thoughts (liminal dreams) flow - occassionaly check on them to keep awake
Hynagogia image, feelings and sounds will start
Clap hands rub and exit

It’s similar to mindfulness meditation—but instead of returning to the breath, you simply observe the mind’s contents and allow yourself to drift deeper. The key is Non-Reactivity.

My new mantra:  "Be Non-Reactive"
Practice this new mantra all through the day when experiencing negative thoughts or feelings

Mixed method of inducing lucid dreaming and out of body experience

 


I find Brian Aherne's WILDing method not always reliable - it is a hit and miss thing. The downside is it may affect health as the body is in a constant state of stress not getting enough rest. Although Brian says in his method, the body and mind does not sleep. I disagree. The body needs to sleep. But the mind keeps it stressed. So a balance need to be found. Instead of totally using Brian's method, we use it along with other methods randomly mixed in with Youri Zaritski and Michael Raduga.

Another point is although Brian says there is no break from wakefulness to dream state, from personal experience I disagree. There is always a micro blackout, also known as microsleep, where the mind needs to blank out for a split second before switching gears into the dream state.

So the mixed in method is as follows. 

Set an intention that upon every awakening I will remember to keep still and attempt dream re-entry. Then attempt exit from body. If fails, do forced sleeping. Then repeat. Each repetition, we use different methods. Example follows. Use Brian's method to first fall asleep when we go to bed at night.

Example Protocol:

1. Set intention to keep still at every awakening and do re-entry and exit
2. Upon awakening, keep still and try to rub fingers, and clap hands
3. Try to rotate body, or, swing, or, rock back and forth, or sway left and right, or, spinning balls
4. Forced sleeping
5. Repeat from 3

The forced sleeping is also a mixed method. We can use any of the following:

1. old fashioned method (i.e. just stop thinking, breathe and let go)
2. mindfulness of craving and let go
3. transform self into Vajrayogini
4. loving-kindness

How the Buddhist Map of Sensory Transition Supports Lucid Dreaming and Out of Body Experience (OBE) Induction via the Hypnagogic State

 


This article summarizes the order of sensory shutdown and reactivation during key transitional states such as death, sleep, hypnagogia, lucid dreaming (WILD), rebirth, and fetal development. It combines insights from Buddhist teachings, particularly Tibetan Buddhism, with scientific understanding of sensory development and experience.

Shutdown of the Senses During Death and Sleep

In Buddhism, the death process is described as a gradual shutting down of the senses—the five physical senses. The typical order of shutdown during death is:


1. Eyes (vision) lose function first.
2. Ears (hearing) follow.
3. Nose (smell) shuts down next.
4. Tongue (taste) closes.
5. Body (touch) sensations diminish.


The sleep process follows a similar but less complete pattern, where vision fades first and touch is the last to go.

Reversal of the Order During Bardo and Rebirth

According to Tibetan Buddhist teachings, the sensory shutdown order during death reverses during rebirth or the bardo (the intermediate state). The body sensations reactivates first, followed by taste, smell, hearing, and finally vision. This reverse order symbolizes the consciousness reconnecting with the physical senses and external world, preparing for a new lifetime.

Fetal Sensory Development

In fetal development, the senses activate in a biological sequence consistent with Buddhist teachings. Touch is the first sense to develop and become functional, starting around 8 weeks gestation. The vestibular system develops alongside touch, providing a sense of balance and movement. Taste and smell follow next, with the fetus responding to chemicals in the amniotic fluid by the second trimester. Hearing develops around 18–20 weeks gestation, allowing the fetus to perceive internal and external sounds. Vision is the last sense to activate fully, since the fetus is in darkness and the eyes are not used for external input until after birth.

Sensory Changes During Hypnagogia and WILD

Hypnagogia, the transition from wakefulness to sleep, exhibits a sensory shutdown pattern similar to death and sleep. External senses fade in the order of vision, hearing, smell, taste, and finally touch.  Next, when entering the dream state, the bodily sensations activate first, eg, vestibular sensations—such as vibrations, floating, rolling, swaying and spinning—often become prominent very early into the dream state, as the body's balance system becomes highly sensitive. And the vision comes in last.


During Wake-Initiated Lucid Dreaming (WILD), practitioners maintain mental awareness as external senses shut down and then internally reactivate subtle sensory awareness in roughly the reverse order: body sensations, hearing, and finally visual imagery. Vestibular sensations are usually easier to notice than visual images early in hypnagogia, providing useful cues for sustaining consciousness.

 

"Turning On" in Dreams

While the physical eyes close during sleep, the dreaming mind begins reactivating the senses in reverse order—much like the process of entering the bardo or being reborn. In the dream state, tactile and vestibular sensations typically emerge first, while visual imagery appears last. Understanding this sequence of sensory shutdown and reactivation allows us to work with it strategically. During hypnagogia, sensations such as vibrations, floating, or swaying often arise before any visual elements. If we remain aware at this stage, we can anchor our consciousness to these early bodily sensations to induce an out-of-body experience—even without visual input. After separation, we can engage the sense of touch to stimulate and stabilize dream vision—for example, by rubbing our hands together and closely observing their texture. In essence, we enter the dream world through the doorway of touch, into a space of darkness or formlessness—then bring luminosity to that emptiness by activating the visual sense.


Summary of Sensory Shutdown and Activation Orders

Shutdown during Death and Sleep:
Eyes → Ears → Nose → Tongue → Body (Touch)

Reactivation during Bardo and Rebirth:
Body (Touch) → Tongue → Nose → Ears → Eyes

Fetal Sensory Development:
Touch → Vestibular → Taste & Smell → Hearing → Vision


Hypnagogia Shutdown:
Vision → Hearing → Smell → Taste → Touch

Hypnagogia / WILD Internal Reactivation:
Body Sensations (including vestibular) → Hearing → Vision


Understanding the ordered sensory shutdown and reactivation across these states offers valuable insight for spiritual practitioners, lucid dreamers, and those studying consciousness. It highlights the fundamental role of bodily awareness as a bridge between waking, dying, and dreaming experiences and how to employ this knowledge to induce lucid dreaming or out of body experience.


A Theory of Vestibular Hypnagogia



Most people mistakenly believe that hypnagogia refers only to visual phenomena. However, in my experience, it can also include auditory, tactile, and vestibular sensations. I suspect that those who struggle to induce an out-of-body experience (OBE) using visual hypnagogia might find more success by tuning into these other sensory modalities.

For example, when I focus on the black void behind my closed eyelids, I don’t always see imagery. Instead, I often feel my body rocking forward and backward, rotating sideways, or being pulled upward, backward, or sideways. These are vestibular hypnagogia. To complete the exit, I usually clap and rub my hands—and then I’m off.

To bring light and color into the dream world, I focus on my hands, carefully inspecting their fine lines and subtle skin tones. Almost instantly, the environment around me becomes illuminated and filled with vivid color.

Another reason many people struggle with visual hypnagogia is that they unknowingly attempt to use their physical eyes instead of the mind’s eye. Trying to visually "stare" into the darkness behind closed eyelids activates the physical eyes, leading to eye strain and wakefulness—often resulting in insomnia. The key is to remain unfocused, allowing awareness to drift across the entire landscape of the mind: thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and especially vestibular sensations.

When hypnagogia deepens, you may begin to feel yourself rotating, swaying, rocking, or gently floating upward or sideways. These sensations are signs that the threshold between waking and dreaming is opening.

432-Out of Body Experience: Hypnagogic rotate in bed

 


Did Brian Aherne (WILDing) and Lucid Mystic (YTuber) method and succeeded to induce an OBE. I lifted out of the body upwards while rubbing hands. Rubbed my right hand on bed and rolled over and stepped on floor of my bedroom, touched the walls and walked. 

Note:
Confident and happy. Will try to make this my primary method for the next few nights. If it works, I will be able to do out of body travel and lucid dream at will.

431-Lucid Dream: Grab thigh while flying

 


Liminal dreaming hypnagogic imagery. While flying pass a girl, I grabbed her thigh with both hands and became lucid. I then rubbed my hands together and the dream scene changed to a room. A few times the dream faded but awareness of one of the hands and then rubbing them together recreated the dream world.

Tip: Always rub hands together, or, keep touching walls, or, ground or objects, or people. Always peer relentlessly from hand to hand to stabilize dream world. Dream world can be re-created through rubbing hands and peering. Even when doing sadhana, should keep rubbing hands and peering from hand to hand. Do not stare at one spot or concentrate, or, relax the mind. Anyway, not yet at this point in time, until I am able to have long dreams every single night effortlessly. Then, I can close dream eyes, concentrate and relax mind while in dream state - to enter clear light.

Most effective method for inducing lucid dreaming or out of body experiences so far

 Have a strong intention on sleep, to remember to keep still on every awakening. And to try to re-enter the dream, by intending or asking “can i reenter the dream?”. Try rolling out and standing up. If that fails, try moving either the right and left hand fingers and rubbing the fingers and thumb. Try touching body or bed at impossible angle. Then, try clapping hands and rubbing. Then, try rotating/spinning either left or right. Or, try swaying side-to-side from a pole alternating between the hands. Then, try swimming frog style, then free style. Then, try flying up, backwards, sideways, etc. Then, try, slightly looking up (not physically) to go into a trancelike state. Or, try visualizing spinning white red balls in central channel. Or, seeing spiralling or rotating objects in mind. Then, relax/force-sleeping. Repeat. If enough rested, can do Wake-Back-To-Bed (WBTB). The longer the WBTB, the more chances of hitting the early morning phase state. 


Upon every awakening, to fall back asleep, can do:


  1. Seeing everything as my mind-made life story - and see it as a dream

  2. Visualize my ego, then transform it into Vajrayogini and let her dissolve the fears, worries, stresses.

  3. Mindfulness breathing and relaxing/releasing
